The city of Kingwood spans across 14,000 acres of land. This city is a master-planned community that is located just north of Houston. The city is split into Harris County and Montgomery County.
Plans for the city’s development were established in 1970 after the land was sold from the Foster Family to both King Ranch and the Friendswood Development Company. The new city began to open just a year later with the first village. Kingwood is divided into 25 separate neighborhoods that are named “villages”. These villages each provide a community swimming pool and village-specific services. During warmer months, the villages form youth swim teams that compete against each other in a league that is affiliated with the Northwest Aquatic League.
The town is not only composed of different villages, the town has many schools, churches, recreational facilities, hiking trails and greenbelts that are enjoyed by residents from all villages. The greenbelt trails span across over 75 miles throughout all villages except for the Trailwood Village.
This city is nicknamed as a “livable forest” because of its heavily forested landscaped. The forest spans over 15,000 acres. The forest has many nature preserves and parks so that the residents of Kingwood can safely enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
